Started by Stockbridge local Susie Gregor 27 years ago the annual Stockbridge Duck Race has become the biggest community event in Stockbridge and one of the most recognised in Edinburgh. Thanks to the generosity of duck buyers and the business community the race has raised thousands of pounds for charity. The chosen charities for 2016 are LifeCare and St. Columba’s Hospice.
2016 ducks were launched from Stockbridge and raced to Falshaw Bridge, with Duck Wardens on duty making sure they all reached their destination safely and shouting out those winning numbers. Stockbridge Local sponsored the duck wardens' t-shirts.
Businesses donated over 100 prizes again this year, raising a fantastic £3,500 for charity.
The Bailie hosted the childrens’ Apres Duck Disco this year and again Lycetts Insurance is funded the event.
Ducks cost £1.50 and were available at an number of local businesses.
